October 13, 2011. The verdict of the Pechersk District Court of Kiev in the case of Ms Yulia Tymoshenko was posted on the website of the Unified State Register of Judgments.
According to the text of the sentence, Ms Tymoshenko was found guilty of exceeding her authority during the signing of a natural gas import contract with Russia in 2009.
The former prime minister of Ukraine caused the financial damage of 1.5 billion hryvnas ($200 million) to the nation's state-run oil and gas company Naftogaz.
The Court has sentenced Yulia Tymoshenko to seven years in jail. Ms Tymoshenko was also banned from holding government posts for three years after the end of her sentence.
